SEO and Paid Search

Search is where people show up already looking for what you offer. I help you earn the organic visibility and run the paid campaigns that put the right page in front of them.

Search marketing is where my career started. I managed SEM and online media at Colle+McVoy, planned digital media at FRWD@Bain, and have run organic and paid search programs in every role since, from subscription publishers to UnitedHealth Group.

I treat organic and paid search as one system. Keyword research informs both, landing pages serve both, and the analytics behind them should tell one story about what people searched for and what they did next.

Approach

How I approach search

Intent First

Every keyword maps to a question someone is asking. The page that answers it best wins, so the work starts with intent, not volume.

Developer Ready

Technical findings arrive as prioritized requirements with acceptance criteria, so they ship instead of sitting in a report.

Measured Against Goals

Rankings and clicks are inputs. I report on leads, conversions and the KPIs we set together, through Google or Adobe Analytics.

Ways to work together

Three ways to engage

Every engagement starts with a conversation about goals. From there it usually takes one of these shapes, and it can move between them as the work matures.

Assessment

A fixed scope with a defined deliverable: a review of one area, findings ranked by impact and effort, and a plan your team can start on the next day.

Best when you need clarity before committing budget.

Program

Ongoing work against a roadmap we set together, with KPIs agreed up front and a regular readout on what shipped, what moved and what comes next.

Best when the website is a product that needs steady ownership.

Fractional Leadership

Part-time or interim ownership of the digital marketing function: priorities, roadmap, KPIs and direction for your teams and agencies.

Best when you need a senior lead before a full-time hire.

Experience

Where this comes from

I have run search marketing from inside agencies, a subscription publisher and a Fortune 500 healthcare company. Colleagues from that time still describe my SEM and SEO knowledge as beyond my title at the time, and I have kept it current through consulting work since.

See my experience

Wow. I was continually floored with how talented Brittany is. Her knowledge of SEM and SEO is on a level far beyond her title. She was always willing to lead, teach, and manage. Those are 3 traits that often escape people in the SEM/SEO role. You'll find yourself fortunate if you get the chance to work with Brittany.

Questions

Frequently asked

Should we start with SEO or paid search?

It depends on how quickly you need results and how competitive your terms are. Paid search can deliver qualified traffic in days, while SEO builds visibility that compounds over months. Most clients benefit from both, with paid search covering the gap while organic work takes hold.

Do you manage Google Ads budgets directly?

Yes. I have managed paid search accounts since my agency days and can run campaigns in your Google Ads account, or set up and brief an internal team to manage them with the right structure and reporting in place.

How do you report on search performance?

Through dashboards in Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics that connect search traffic to conversions and leads. We agree on the KPIs at the start, and I report against them monthly with notes on what changed and why.
